A Desire For Friendship-
I think within the deepest parts of all man there is a strong desire to have a deep and intimate relationship with others. Even the hardest, cold-hearted person in the world can be warmed by a special touch, a warm hug or uplifting word from another person.
Starting in the Garden Of Eden, when Adam walked with God, to the modern times when we spend countless hours instant messaging and conversing with friends, we continually strive for both acceptance and praise.
Some people get frustrated when our relationships don't work out, some can't understand the reasons for their inability to make it work. Only a relationship with Jesus Christ can fulfill the heart and soul. The reason is simple, only He provides total and unconditional love. In His word we are provided the insight and compassion that matches no other. The understanding that we all need deeply.
The Outreach Take-Away... Jesus sits at the right-hand of God today yet desires to have a relationship with us. Christians are the hands, legs and voice that allow Jesus to reach others. Outreach is where we take the phone to people so that Christ can speak to them because their phone has stopped working clearly.
Friendship is a "two-way" road for sure, but unless we take it upon ourselves to lay a foundation then the potential friend cannot build the road to us and the danger is we both may fall from the road to Heaven!
